Jordan, it's been awhile. Sorry for the late reply. I might have a higher resolution of this on the source file, but I can't promise anything, I'll take a look after work (if I can remember). I think the gradient starts to degrade though was the issue.
Yes JPG. is in some cases, but if you keep the the Quality at image options as "12" (maxium), the loss of quality is definetly unnoticeable to human eye. Gradients some times dont like jpg. , and I personally prefer bmp. fileformat for my own wallpapers in some cases, but for sharing, jpg. is definetly the best choise. Also, when you save file as JPG. in photoshop, I suggest to turn off "ICN profile sRGB IEC6....", becouse I´ve noticed that it unselected gives you less loss of quality with gradients. Btw, keep in mind that in Vista, when you use eny picture as wallpaper, Vista reduces the quality of the image used considerably.
