No. Saving up for other stuff, I'll go with the GIMP for now even though it's not awesome compared to PS.

I'm still using CS and will stay with CS for few more months... Have no desire to upgrade, there's no point.

What is so different between CS3 and CS2?

I kinda want to, because I have cs2 suite working on my duel-core intel mac and it could run kind of slow. Especially illustrator which quits on me everytime I have photoshop running, and also when I try to use the pathfinder tools. :(

Well, I'll be edging on my company to buy it, so that shouldn't be a problem, we have CS2 now, so I'm guessing they'll upgrade no problem.

As for myself; well, I'll likely use other means. >_>

CS2 on mac is slow as a snail as it's not universal. So I'm upgrading. :)

i'm trying the beta...and not loving it much so far :( the interface is clearly improved and does look a lot nicer...but i can't speak the same about actual "functions"...it may be just me tough...i've been known to be extremely picky sometimes

Absolutely!! I have been using the public beta now for a couple months and I am totally hooked on CS3. Its gonna suck when the beta is down and I have to wait to buy the upgrade from CS2

I tried the beta, but it ran much slower on my comp. than CS2. Probably because I'm still using a "Power Book"... LOL

WOW! That's nice. It would probably run better on an Intel Mac. That's what Adobe seems to be leaning towards, now.

Hope all is well,

Ha, currently I'm using a friends copy of CS2 for my Mac, but once CS3 comes out, student edition! :D

Only costs 100 then, and its much faster than CS2 (currently using the beta)

So yes, I will be buying.

CS3 cracked \0/

@Poolpimp - depends how the software is cracked. There's hacking and then there's reverse engineering. No idea what mine is  (not that it matters to me as I will never reach the ranks of high end design).

i would need to buy it as my cs2 is not original , plus i have grown to love using cs3 over cs2 , one major reason being how fast it works , it's soo much more less resource hungry on your pc , it really is pure joy to use , plus i really love the new UI , the menu set out etc ... i love having the brushs right there when i want them , with out fucking about with shortcuts etc ...

yes, it's very complete but it's got too many secrets for my taste, i wish adobe would make it a litle bit more "point n'click". you should give it a try tho. maybe go through a lynda tutorial on it. vector design has shitloads of potencial.

Illustrator is ok....the pen tool is harder than on photoshop because of the difference when u use ctrl+click, alt+click and shift+click.....and dropping colors into areas is sometimes a damn challenge

:iconkordump:

it's only a matter of habit, i find easier to use the pen on illustrator than photoshop but harder than freehand. besides i think you can costumize those commands somewhere.

Grow up, who buys programs anymore, most of us just pirate them.

:iconpoolpimp:

ok...try doing graphics for MTV with your pirated software...whenever you save out, theres hidden watermarks that can only be read with this one program...

this one company that snitches on ppl or companies with pirated software has that program also...if caught...u gotta pay up the money u made off the software, lawyer fees, and other stuff...don't forget, you might get jail time..up to 10 years

So if you wanna keep using pirated software, you better stick to doing stuff for mom & pop business...

true :)
even if you open an image created with photoshop (like a flattened jpeg) with a text editing program, you can see the first line tells u what version was used. :P
I bet there are ways of getting more info...

I would rather buy CS3...

Lol, only when we have lost everything, that we are free to do anything. Only when you eliminate fear, are you truly happy and satisfied.

in other words, I am happy making crappy artwork using my pirated software in Kuwait. If i get caught, then so be it.

O, you're in Kuwait, then your o.k (no offense if taken)...Im on the east coast of the United States (don't like it, rather be in the south), the highest risk of doing commercial work on pirated software...

Lol, funny thing is that i make work for an organization here, and i dont think anyone here uses legitimate software.

I dont believe piracy is a crime that should be punished to a very large extent, because after all, not all people can afford to buy corporate programs such as these all the time, especially not a low earning 16 year old dufus like me.

where did you say you were from, kuwait....ok where are the big targets for adobe, u.s., u.k, japan, some countries on the mainland of europe, and probably india (thats where all the support centers are located at, lol)

i don't think kuwait would be a target to watch ppl for software...plus laws are different in each country...but some share simular stuff like copyright infringment

There is kind of a crackdown on pirated software here in Kuwait, but in stores, but the penalties are very slim, and the stores here are very smart, they know how to hide their software very well.
